When you start looking for a job, you're joining the labour market - the place where workers compete for jobs, and employers compete for workers. Do you know how to get ahead of the competition? Do our quiz to find out.
Answer:
You're right. The recent 'credit crunch' has led to fewer job vacancies and higher unemployment but it hasn't changed the long-term trends. The number of jobs for young people without skills keep shrinking. There will be very few 'jobs for life', but all industries will recruit new workers in the future to replace those who retire or change careers. There will be a bigger demand for skilled workers who are qualified to levels 2, 3 and above. Training will continue to be part of most jobs so employers will want people who are willing and able to learn.
