Apprenticeships

Your teenager could apply for an Apprenticeship. As an apprentice your teenager will be given a wage of at least £95 per week, and will be learning the skills and gaining the qualifications that employers want. For more information visit www.apprenticeships.org.uk opens new window.

Getting a job

If your teenager's goal is to find a job, encourage them to look for a job with training. Your teenager's school or college will provide help on how to search for a job, fill out an application form and prepare for an interview. Their Connexions personal adviser will have details of local job opportunities that are particularly suited to young people and that include training.

Starting a business

This is a tough option. However, if your teenager has a great business idea, there are several organisations that can help. For more information look at www.connexions-direct.com, www.shell-livewire.org opens new window and www.businesslink.gov.uk opens new window.
