Jemma's story

Jemma has talked to teachers, college tutors, her Connexions personal adviser and her parents about her subject choices. She chose economics, English, graphic design and mathematics, because she is interested in them and has enjoyed them. They are broad ranging and so keep her options open.

Jemma hasn't yet decided whether to study in the sixth form or at college. Her Connexions personal adviser recommended she find out as much as possible before making a choice.

'As part of my research, I went to the sixth form and college open days and talked to tutors about the courses. I've also talked to students, to find out what they think, and to my teachers, friends and family in order to get a range of opinions so that I can come to a decision.'

'Find out as much as you can about the places to study and the courses they offer, as they are all different. Also, don't just choose somewhere because your friends are going there or because you think it is an easy option.'
