• If you are looking for a job the best place to start is your local Connexions centre. They will be able to tell you about any vacancies specifically for school leavers. You can talk to a Connexions personal adviser.
• It is also a good idea to check the jobs pages of your local newspapers.
• You can search the websites of individual companies or organisations to see if they are advertising any vacancies. There are also general job-search websites on the internet.
• You could also try the speculative approach. This involves writing directly to employers when no job has been advertised. You need to send in your CV with a covering letter to the human resources department, asking if there are any vacancies. Many companies do not respond to this approach.
