Looking for employment

This takes a lot of thought, from finding a job to creating the right impression when applying. The sections below should help you understand the right way to go about it.

Information

Applying for a job

Employers get a lot of job applications so first impressions count. As with any letter you may write, the format is as follows:

  • Introductory paragraph: you introduce yourself and your reason for writing (to tell the employer that you have sent them your CV or application form).
  • Middle (or development) paragraphs: you tell the employer why you want the job, some information about yourself and what you could bring to the job.
  • Last (or concluding) paragraph: you explain any actions that you have made or would like to request, for example, 'I have enclosed my CV' or 'I would be grateful if you could send me an application form'.
