Keeping your options open

In Year 9, Amanda moved from Poland to the UK. Since then she's worked hard to learn English and to study GCSEs in a new language. Now in Year 11, she's fluent in English and is predicted to get good GCSE grades. Next year she plans to study A Levels at college.

She's exploring career ideas ranging from translating to interior design. She wants to keep her options open and has chosen A Level subjects that will let her do this - art, graphics, photography and psychology post-16. When she's finished her A Levels, she wants to go to university but is keeping an open mind about what to study.

Case Study Quote

I decided to do A Levels to find out more about the subjects I'm interested in and to see if I want to take them further. It'll also give me the time to think more about what I want to do long term whilst getting more qualifications.
