People to speak to

  • People who know you well: Share your ideas with family and friends, teachers, your form tutor, mentor, coach or a youth worker. They'll be ready to listen to your ideas and discuss them with you. They'll soon tell you if they think that you're making the right decision and they'll explain why.
  • Careers co-ordinators: They know what each option involves and how it might help you in the future. They're good people to approach if you can't decide what to do or if you want a second opinion from someone.
  • Connexions personal advisers: Advisers have special training to help you sort out personal and career issues. They can help you think through your decisions and tackle any issues that may be getting in your way (eg money, housing or relationships). They're good people to approach if you have a specific problem, can't decide what to do or need a second opinion from someone neutral. Watch out for information about when they're in school and how you can arrange to see one.
