Choices in Year 9
What subjects you choose
You now have the opportunity to take control of your education and shape the way you want your future to be. That is why you are asked to choose which subjects you want to study over the next two years.
It is important to choose subjects that will interest and motivate you. Spend some time thinking about what you enjoy doing, what keeps you interested in something and what makes you work hard. The choices you make now may also influence what course or job you decide to do after Year 11.
Remember that you are not alone in making these decisions; everyone in Year 9 is going through the same process. That's why the Department for Education has produced the 'Which Way Now?' and 'It's Your Choice' publications.
'Which Way Now?' is designed to help you with your option choices during Year 9.
'It's Your Choice' has been written especially for young people who are nearing the end of Year 11 and who will be decided how best to gain the career and the life that you want. It's still worth having a look at 'It's Your Choice' now as it will help you to understand the choices that you will be facing in two years.
You should have seen both of these publications at school but they are also available online.
