Biking Sensibly

What you need to know

Cycling is a great way to keep fit and to be environmentally friendly as well as getting from A to B. But it's important to keep safe and to make sure you're cycling safely and not causing a danger or nuisance to others.

What you can do

  • Maintain your bike and check the brakes regularly.
  • Don't ride on pavements.
  • Take a cycling safety course.
  • Use your front and rear lights when it is dark and keep your reflectors clean.
  • Be seen - wear a safety helmet and bright clothing.
  • Be aware of other road users and keep your distance.
Advisers are here between 8am and 2am. Talk to us in confidence >>
