Sex and Relationships

What you need to know

There can be a lot of pressure on you to do things before you are ready to, but at the end of the day you have to make sure that you only do what is right for you. The fact is it can be embarrassing talking about sex and relationships.

You don't always want to discuss things with your parents and your mates may think they have all the answers but they don't. But don't worry as there are lots of other places you can get confidential information and advice.

Remember, by law you must be over 16 and give your full consent to sex. Don't be rushed into sex - you don't want to do anything that you might end up regretting. If you do have sex always remember to use protection. If in doubt, get advice from your doctor or family planning clinic.

What you can do

  • If you want to find out more about sex and relationships visit the links on this site.
  • If you want to talk to someone in confidence who can give you reliable advice and who is not a parent, carer or friend, you can call the Sexwise phoneline on 0800 28 29 30 for free advice.
  • Remember that you never have to do anything you don't want to, and that your friends probably don't know and haven't done as much as they say.
Advisers are here between 8am and 2am. Talk to us in confidence >>
