Are you Streetwise?

What you need to know

You need to know how to look after yourself while you are out and about, how to recognise dangers and how to get out of potentially difficult situations..

What you can do

  • Tell someone where you are going, who you are going with, what time you will be back and how you are getting home.
  • Keep your mobile with you - if you don't have one make sure that you have some change or a phone card.
  • While walking alone try and look confident and walk with your head up.
  • Try not to use your mobile phone or personal stereo, as it will stop you being aware of what is going on around you.
  • Set your mobile to silent, vibrating or discreet so you don't draw attention to yourself.
Advisers are here between 8am and 2am. Talk to us in confidence >>
