Feeling Suicidal

What you need to know

Everyone feels low from time to time, but sometimes it can be very scary. It can dramatically change how you feel about yourself and your life. It's important to realise that lots of people can feel depressed or suicidal and there are trained counsellors who are there to help.

What you can do

  • It can be very hard to do - but you need to ask for help
  • Try to talk to someone you like and trust, a friend or family, a teacher or your GP
  • Call a helpline and talk with a specially trained counsellor who will listen, understand and be there for you, whatever the situation
  • Childline in particular takes children and young people's problems very seriously. Call 0800 1111 - it's free, confidential and won't show up on your phone bill. You can call at any time, 24hrs a day, seven days a week
Advisers are here between 8am and 2am. Talk to us in confidence >>
