Keeping Fit

What you need to know

Magazines, DVDs, TV - there's so much talk about new fitness regimes it's hard to know what's best. The main thing to remember is that keeping fit is not a fad or a fashion, it's important for your health and happiness your whole lifelong.

Try interesting new sports or fun classes, it's a great idea to enjoy a variety of activities, but make sure that you get a bit of exercise every day for healthy living.

You only have one body, and how you treat it will make a difference to how you look and feel today and in the future. Be good to yourself, you're worth the effort.

What you can do

  • Think about how much exercise you do each day and how all the little things add up. Then you can see if you need to add something into your daily routine. Aim for a total of one hour each day.
  • Join your local gym or fitness club.
  • Look for clubs in your area. Sport doesn't have to revolve around school, besides its good to meet new people.
  • Think about taking up a new sport with a friend. Don't worry if you aren't very good at you, you can both learn together and have a laugh.
  • Set yourself a fun goal, for example: to be able to shoot 20 basketball nets in a row; raise money in a fun run; rollerblade down the street without crashing or learn a new skateboarding trick.
