Moderated Chat Room
The Connexions Direct Community
Members of the Connexions Direct Community have access to the Connexions Direct Moderated Chat Room, Message Board and Connexions Direct Adviser Web Cam.
Becoming part of the Connexions Direct Community will enable you to gain advice and information from a Connexions Direct adviser, and at the same time you can speak with other young people and share your thoughts and experiences in a fully moderated and secure site.
To become part of the Connexions Direct Community you will need to register. You will be asked to provide an email address and a username but these details will not be shared with anyone else.

About the Moderated Chat Room
All Connexions Direct chat rooms are moderated. A moderator will post your question on the site and the adviser will then respond. Please do not attempt to post any messages containing your personal details, such as your address.
If you require any further advice once the chat room session is over, or if you wish to discuss an issue not related to the chat room topic, you can contact an adviser on a one to one basis. Advisers can be contacted online, by email, telephone or SMS text message. Full details can be found on the Connexions Direct communication channel page.
About the Adviser Web Cam
When you log into the Connexions Direct Community you will need to click 'Start Chat'; this will present a list of available chat rooms. You then need to enter the chat room named Adviser Web Cam Session.
Once in the chat room an adviser will confirm that you require a web cam conversation and talk you through how to do this. Once you have your web cam working an adviser will start their web cam.
You may notice slight time delays during the conversation while an adviser is finding out the right information and thinking about their response to you. In these situations an adviser may pause the conversation until they have the information.
About the Moderated Message Board
The Connexions Direct Message Board is moderated. Community members can post messages on the message board and a moderator will review each post before other users can view it. Please do not attempt to post any messages containing your personal details, such as your address.
If you would like to discuss a topic that is not already listed on the message board then please start a new topic. If you wish to talk to an adviser on a one to one basis you can do this by contacting an Adviser Online, an Adviser via a Web Cam, by email, telephone or SMS text message. Confidentiality
All web cam conversations, chat room posts and message board posts are recorded. You don't have to give your name or personal details if you don't want to.
Your information will not be shared outside Connexions Direct unless we think that you or another young person are in danger or at risk. If we think you are in danger or at risk we will let you know and offer lots of support.
If you agree, we will share your information with specialist organisations who can help you further.
Please note - these additional services were successfully trialled throughout 2009 and became a permanent part of the Connexions Direct service in March 2010.
